Shit like “Next Gen”, “AAA”, “Killer App” can suck my ass. It is as bad as Sonics Sega Genesis days of “Super Blast Processing” or when simple image scans used in arcade games like area 51 were considered “Digitized”.
Sometimes i imagine us having some sort of technological regression where game development would get pushed back to SNES Sprite based game development.. Then i wouldnt have to deal with some tool on G4 in amazement at normal maps, Depth of Field or light blooming.
I honestly feel were in need of a 2D game where the focus is on Gameplay and Story rather than some anti-aliased huge explosions and effects game that looks sweet and plays like ass. Who cares that the game looks real if my enemy is exploiting collision and shooting me in my ass from under the ground?
Give me Chrono Trigger over Halo3 ANYDAY. Not to say that Halo3 will be bad and wont sell millions. But eh.. To this day i have yet to play ANY Halo game.. Not because i cant, but because i have no interest… No no, im not some SquareSoft/RPG Fanboy..
Yes, there are some good current gen games.. At least in my eyes. I love The Darkness.. Kinda wish it was longer. I can play Rainbow6: Vegas for hours. I have quite a few 360 games, but these are the only ones with any real rotation in my system.. When its not red ringed.
Dont get me ranting on the red ring of death…
